Greek Ceramic Canister 20cm with lid, Satyr with Manaeds

Satyrs and maenads were heavily associated with Dionysus and revelry.Satyrs in Greek mythology are half-man half-beast nature spirits that haunted the woods and mountains, companions of Pan and Dionysus.Satyrs are male followers, the female followers of Dionysus are maenads.

     Second side: It is depicting hoplite(foot soldier) mounted on dolphins.Dolphin-riding hoplites appear on vases of the period 520-510B.C.
